The short version
Karai runs on your own computer. Your words, cards, screenshots, audio and watch history stay there and in your Anki. We only receive what you choose to send us: your email if you join the beta, and problem reports you submit.
What we collect
- Beta sign-up: your email address, and where you came from (for example, a link you clicked). Used only to send you the beta and updates about Karai.
- Problem reports: what you write, the page you were on, the app and extension versions, your browser, and a screenshot if you attach one. Your email only if you add it. Used only to fix problems and improve Karai.
What we don't collect
- Your vocabulary, cards, Anki data, screenshots from videos or audio clips. These stay on your computer.
- What you watch. The extension reads subtitles in your browser and talks only to Karai on your own computer.
- Payment details. Karai is free during the beta.
Services we use
Sign-ups and problem reports are stored with Supabase (database and file storage). When you look up a word or mine a card, Karai on your computer may ask Wikimedia (Wikcionario, Lingua Libre) for a definition or a recording; only the word itself is sent.
Your choices
To be removed from the beta list, or to have your problem reports deleted, email dakaraihaynes@gmail.com and we'll do it.
